Climate-friendly economies in Central Asia
Between 2012 and 2013, IWO was involved in the project “Integrated Approach to Developing Climate-Friendly Economies in Central Asia”, which was carried out by DIW econ and funded by the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. The aim of the project was to support the Central Asian republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in developing strategies for climate-friendly and sustainable economic growth. Together with the Central Asian partners, sectoral plans were drawn up that are geared to the development of national economies with due consideration for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, so-called National Appropriate Mitigation Activities (NAMA). Together with the project partners, IWO developed a NAMA-suitable concept for improving the energy efficiency of typical buildings in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
