Event dedicated to the implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between the European Union and the Republic of Kazakhstan

On 20 June 2024 an event dedicated to the implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between the European Union and the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held in Astana at the Rixos Hotel (Astana, Kunayeva 7) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. The EPCA entered into full legal force on 1 March 2020. The Agreement marks a significant milestone in the relations between the EU and Kazakhstan, establishing a comprehensive framework for enhanced bilateral cooperation. The EU Strategy, emphasising sustainable development and prosperity, supports Kazakhstan’s transition to a green and diversified economy, reinforcing political dialogue, sectoral cooperation, and mutual trade and investment.

The event will be attended by Kestutis Jankauskas, Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan, and Johannes Baur, Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan. During the event, the EU-Kazakhstan EPCA Implementation Plan and projects by various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and co-financed by the EU will be presented – an excellent opportunity for networking and discussing the role of CSOs and NGOs and strengthening it in the process. Partners from the Kazakhstan Parliamentary Development Fund (KPDF) in Astana will present the «ENABLE – Empowered Civil Society for a Sustainable and Efficient City» project financed by the EU and coordinated by IWO e. V. CSOs which acquire competences in the field of housing and communal services can become qualified assistants and advisors for local and national authorities in their efforts to solve social problems and modernise the housing stock.
