GREEN Home – Energy Efficiency for HOAs
More energy-efficient building refurbishment for more climate protection: The Horizon 2020 GREEN Home project focused on the decarbonisation of existing buildings owned by homeowner associations.
In order to achieve the European climate policy goals by 2050, the renovation rate must at least double and the annual investment volume for energy efficiency measures in the residential building stock must be increased. There are around 42.5 million dwellings in Germany, more than ten million of which are owner-occupied dwellings. This means that around a quarter of the German housing stock is owned by the two million homeowner associations nationwide – that is more than is accounted for by cooperatives, municipal and private-sector housing companies combined.
The German Association of Property Managers (VDIV), the German Business Initiative for Energy Efficiency e. V. (DENEFF), Funding for Future B. V. (F3) and IWO cooperated in the “GREEN Home” project to promote the decarbonisation of the building stock of homeowner associations. The project was funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union.
