Innovative rental housing model in Latvia

As part of the project “Development of a market-oriented model for affordable (rental) housing and sustainable energy-efficient apartment buildings in modular wood hybrid construction in Latvia by the European Housing Association ‘LiM Living in Metropolises SCE'”, the construction of a rental apartment building in Latvia’s third largest city Jelgava is planned and prepared. The project runs from December 2019 until December 2021 and is co-financed by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU).
The processes and the new building will serve as practical models to illustrate the technical and financial feasibility, energy-related and value-added advantages of wood hybrid construction in Latvia, the high quality of the resulting housing and affordability provided by the cooperative model.
