Housing Reforms & Participation in Belarus
The project “Participatory Housing Reforms – Citizen Participation in Belarus” (2009-2010) was developed by IWO and six Belarusian partners and contributed to necessary reforms in the Belarusian housing sector. The partner organisations from Belarus were homewner associations and local administrations in Minsk and Belarusian regions. Key activities included the analysis of problems, reform deficits and potentials in the Belarusian housing sector and the elaboration of concepts and strategies by the partners based on these analyses for the development of appropriate institutional and legal framework conditions. Educational and information seminars were another important component, which enabled the exchange of information as well as networking between the German and Belarusian partners.
The project took place within the framework of the EU programme “Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development (NSA-LA)” and was co-financed by the European Commission from EuropeAid funds.
