Project Kick-Off

GREEN Home - More refurbished homes, more climate protection

New Horizon 2020 project - GREEN Home

More energy-efficient building refurbishment for more climate protection: New Horizon 2020 project GREEN Home starts and focuses on the decarbonization of existing buildings owned by homeowners' associations.

In order to achieve the European climate policy targets by 2045, the refurbishment rate must at least double and the annual investment volume for energy efficiency measures in the residential building stock must be increased. There are around 42.5 million homes in Germany, more than ten million of which are owner-occupied. This means that around a quarter of Germany's housing stock is owned by the country's two million homeowners' associations - more than cooperatives, municipal and private-sector housing companies combined.

The Association of Property Managers Germany e. V. (VDIV), the German Business Initiative for Energy Efficiency e. V. (DENEFF), IWO and Funding for Future B. V. (F3) are launching their collaboration today with the "GREEN Home" project to advance the decarbonization of the building stock of condominium associations. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme.
