IWO joins the 'Strengthening of Urban Resilience in Ukraine' project by GIZ

IWO is launching a new project "Strengthening of Urban Resilience in Housing”. It is being implemented within the framework of the “Strengthening of Urban Resilience in the Areas of Supply Infrastructure and Housing in Ukraine (SUR)" project which is a part of the German transitional development assistance, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The aim of the project is to develop the capacity of cities to respond to the housing challenges and threats caused by Russian military aggression, while addressing pre-existing structural problems in the housing sector. The project includes an educational program, an assessment of urban resilience and housing needs in cities, as well as the development of strategic goals and measures in this area and their integration into relevant city-level documents or the creation of a new local housing strategy.

The project is aimed at cities in Eastern, Northern, Southern and part of Central Ukraine, where the need for restoring housing stock and accommodating internally displaced persons is most acute. The target cities are large (up to 1 million residents) and medium-sized cities that already have some experience in housing solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and are highly motivated to implement innovative housing solutions for IDPs and other segments of the population in need of state support for housing.

IWO розпочинає новий проєкт «Посилення стійкості міст у сфері житла», який реалізується в рамках проєкту «Посилення стійкості міст у сфері життєзабезпечення міських територіальних громад в Україні» (SUR), що є частиною німецької допомоги перехідного періоду, яка надається на замовлення Федерального міністерства економічного співробітництва та розвитку Німеччини (BMZ) та виконується Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

Метою проєкту є розвиток спроможності міст у реагуванні на виклики і загрози у сфері житла, спричинені російською військовою агресією, водночас торкаючись структурних проблем у сфері житла, що існували раніше. Проєкт включає у себе освітню програму, оцінку стійкості міст та житлових потреб у містах, а також розробку стратегічних цілей і заходів у цьому напрямі та їхню інтеграцію у відповідні документи міського рівня або ж створення нової стратегії розвитку житла.

Проєкт спрямований на міста Східної, Північної, Південної та частини Центральної України, де найгострішими є потреби відбудови житлового фонду та прийняття внутрішньо переміщених осіб. Цільовими є великі (але до 1 млн мешканців) та середні міста, які вже мають певні напрацювання щодо житлових рішень для внутрішньо переміщених осіб (далі – ВПО) і високу мотивацію впроваджувати інноваційні житлові рішення для ВПО та інших верств населення, які потребують державної підтримки з житлового забезпечення.
