CLI-MA – from Housing Manager to Climate Manager

Improving energy efficiency in buildings is crucial for achieving climate targets in both Poland (PL) and Latvia (LV). The highest backlog demand is in multi-family houses (MFH), where the initiation and organization of renovation processes proves to be difficult. Within the German project KLIMAVERWALTER (funded by the National Climate Initiative NKI), curricula and trainings for professional housing managers have been developed; tailored trainings focus on the implementation of energy efficiency measures in MFH. Most MFH in partner countries are managed by professionals, but there is a lack of knowledge and experience on how to guide MFH homeowners in building retrofits. The action benefits from the fact that in PL skills and methods to reduce energy costs are in high demand during professional training, and in Latvia professional managers need to obtain a special degree at the university and complement the education/training with practical methods of organizing rehabilitation processes and funds in MFH.
