Proposals for improving energy efficiency in residential buildings in Kazakhstan

On October 18, 2024, the conference "Problems of Energy Efficiency Improvement in the Residential Sector of Kazakhstan" will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan, as part of the Kazakhstan-Germany Energy Dialogue, German Energy Agency (dena), Berlin, Germany.
The main objective of the conference is to develop proposals for improving policies to increase the energy efficiency of residential buildings in the context of the goals of the Republic of Kazakhstan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
The partners of international projects in Kazakhstan:
- "Kazakhstan-Germany Energy Dialogue",
- "ENABLE - Empowered Civil Society for a Sustainable and Efficient City", funded by the European Union" and
- "Eastern Partnership and Central Asia FELICITY II Programme - Financing Energy for Low-carbon Investment –Cities Advisory Facility", funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) as part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI)
have merged their knowledge and experience with the expertise of the German Energy Agency (dena), the organiser of the conference, to discuss ways of modernising the housing stock, improving the legal and regulatory framework for increasing energy efficiency in buildings and organisational and financial instruments to promote energy-efficient construction and the modernisation of buildings.
The conference will focus on discussing the possibility of establishing a project office (an instrument for the strategic development and effective management of national projects) in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the topic of energy efficiency in the housing sector.
