Seminar in Kazakhstan on the topic: "Caretaker services / energy saving measures in residential buildings”

From April 20, 2023, to April 21, 2023, a seminar took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as part of the PROMHOUSE project. The seminar was moderated by Aziz Jalilov, Deputy Director, Almaty Construction and Technical College, Almaty, Kazakhstan, Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Various presentations and speeches were delivered during the seminar. Aziz Jalilov discussed the professional training of the first caretakers in Kazakhstan, emphasizing its importance for the development of this field. Since the implementation of the educational program in September 2022, the demand for this profession continues to grow, with 75 individuals currently undergoing training this year. Students particularly appreciate the multidisciplinary training format.

Christian Seip, Head of Property Management of the Housing Cooperative, Trainer EBZ, European Educational Centre for Housing and Real Estate industry, Bochum, Germany, shared information about the key competencies and scope of work of a caretaker. His presentation provided valuable practical advice to the participants.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Viktor Grinewitschus, Vice-Rector for Research, Techem Endowed Chair for Energy Issues in the Real Estate Industry, EBZ Business School GmbH, Bochum, Germany presented the technical aspects of the caretaker's work and discussed the tasks they have to address. This presentation highlighted the importance of energy conservation in buildings and its impact on the efficiency of a house master's work.

The seminar concluded with a discussion where the participants explored perspectives on development of the caretaker profession. There was active interaction and exchange of ideas among specialists from different countries.

The second day of the seminar offered participants fascinating excursions. The program included visits to the Almaty Construction and Technical College to know more about the organisation of the educational process. There was also a tour of the housing stock Facility Management Group where participants learned more about the implementation of energy-saving measures. The programme concluded with a tour of modern architecture and new construction projects in Almaty.

This seminar was another step within the PROMHOUSE project, which aims to stimulate the development of the private sector and diversify the economy in Central Asia. We strive to improve professionalism and services in the field of housing management in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the European Educational Centre for Housing and Real Estate industry, as well as with associations in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
