The overall objective of the EU-funded PROMHOUSE project was to support private sector development and economic diversification in Central Asia (CA) by strengthening private micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the field of housing management in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The project was implemented from January 2020 until December 2023 and followed on thematically from the PRO HOUSE project. In both countries, the capacities of MSMEs and business intermediary organisations (BIO) to represent business interests will be strengthened and representatives will be encouraged to participate actively in housing policy decision-making processes. The professionalism in the area of housing management and the organisational and institutional capacities of BIOs to implement training and qualification measures for MSMEs are to be improved. In the medium term, initial and continuing vocational training for housing managers in CA vocational training institutions is to be introduced and the professional capacities of entrepreneurs and job seekers increased in order to contribute to job creation and MSME development. Innovation capacities in the countries will be promoted by testing and disseminating new construction, refurbishment and maintenance technologies, materials and participation in local networks and clusters, strengthening the links and networks between European and CA BIOs and local authorities.
