Webinar on "Digitalization in the Real Estate Industry" conducted within the PROMHOUSE project

The Eastern Europe Housing Initiative (IWO), Berlin, in collaboration with the European Educational Center for Housing and Real Estate Economics (EBZ), Bochum, organized a webinar from March 13, 2023, to March 23, 2023, as part of the PROMHOUSE project, focusing on the topic of "Digitization in the Real Estate Sector." The webinar, designated as No. 35 in the educational program of the "Training of Trainers" (ToT) project, aimed to shed light on the ongoing digital transformation in the real estate sector and its benefits for property management companies and owners.

The PROMHOUSE project, funded by the EU and focusing on private sector development and economic diversification in Central Asia, aims to strengthen the rights and capacities of private companies involved in property management in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The project includes the development and enhancement of professional standards, the launch of professional education for property managers, the strengthening of organizational and institutional capacities, the dissemination of international experience, and the establishment of partnerships.

The webinar brought together participants from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Germany, promoting international cooperation and knowledge exchange.

Digitalization has become a universal concept in various industries, and the real estate sector is no exception. In recent years, digital technologies have permeated both personal and professional life. In the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly all industries have been forced to adapt to digital transformation. The real estate industry is also undergoing significant change as digital tools and platforms streamline and accelerate processes. Traditional print advertisements are being replaced by online platforms, in-person property viewings are transitioning to virtual tours, and databases are used for tenant and client management. Digitization in the real estate sector is a crucial step towards modern, secure, and efficient property management, enhancing customer satisfaction.

The goal of the webinar was to explore the prerequisites for advancing digitization in property management companies and real estate service companies. The implementation and utilization of digital technologies and data management within organizations were examined. In addition, marketing strategies utilizing digital media and practical approaches were discussed during the event.

Andrea Krisemendt from EBZ Academie provided valuable insights into the future of education and the importance of self-learning competencies, motivation, and time management skills. Annika Ehses, an education staff member at EBZ Akademie, introduced the topic of "Digitization in the Real Estate Sector." Other speakers, such as Heiko Gsell, a professor of business informatics at EBZ Business School, emphasized current IT trends in the real estate sector, focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT), business analytics, and data-driven decision-making. Timo Wanke, a researcher in the Digitalization and Demography Department of the Federal Union of German Housing and Real Estate Companies (GdW), discussed strategic planning as a necessary component for successful digitization projects, while Alexandra Kharabaruk from the Digitalization and Demography Department of GdW explored networking opportunities among housing companies. Finally, Hanno Schmidt, owner of the agency "haushoch digital," emphasized the importance of cost-effective digital marketing methods.

Participants were encouraged to attend all online events of Webinar No. 35 to obtain a certificate, which required passing a test (minimum of 50 points). The number of webinar participants was 50, with 23 participants taking the test, and 15 participants successfully passing the test.
