Kicking off the training actions of the EUKI-funded project Training for Managers of Urban Redevelopment in Lithuania, partners IWO and Beta organised a roadshow of information events addressed to Lithuanian municipalities between 12 and 15 February 2018. Stopping at Klaipeda, Kaunas and Vilnius, the event series served to present the training programme developed as part of the bilateral project for qualifying ‘Managers for Urban Redevelopment’ in Lithuania and invite interested Lithuanian municipalities to apply for participating in the training. The hands-on vocational training is the key activity the Lithuanian-German project which strives to reach 20 out of the 60 municipalities in Lithuania to start with. The call for applications will close on 28 February and the first introductory seminar on 20/21 March will be the first of eight two-day seminars. German insar consult, who are experts for spatial planning, architecture and regional development, will lead the training. The final roadshow event in Vilnius was also well attended and received by national and local media.
The project started in October 2017 and will close in February 2020. Overall, the action aims at contributing to putting the focus on an integrated approach in energy-efficient urban redevelopment – a goal recently settled by Lithuania's government – into practice, thus starting to close the current gap regarding qualified staff in the municipalities and strengthening local capacities. It follows up prior joint activities on integrated urban redevelopment in Lithuania (find more information in German here).

The training will address planners and administration staff in the municipalities and support them in managing future urban redevelopment processes and elaborating development concepts for urban areas with integrated measures for increasing energy efficiency. Apart from eight two-day seminars, it will consist of a guided project work phase with complementary coaching and a one-week study tour to Germany in the second half of 2018.
Along with the other 21 projects funded by EUKI, IWO and Beta are proud to present their joint action at the EUKI Annual Conference 2018 on 21 and 22 February 2018 in Berlin.
